Alan B Hayman

Loch Tay Moonlight

It is said by some locals that Alan B Hayman put modern Glenlyon on the map. He has lived and worked in the Glen for the past 14 years and his gallery is a truly unique experience. Many who happen by describe it as a "real find". Many others make the trip because they know Alan's work and visit to see his new works.

Alan was born in 1947 and has been depicting wildlife since the age of 5.

He was born and raised in Montrose, Scotland and spent his childhood around Montrose Basin, which is famed for its abundance of wildlife. He had cliffs practically on his doorstep where he would observe the seabirds, and hills where the wildlife could be studied in their natural habitat. He would find dead birds along the seashore and at a very early age began drawing them and experimenting with taxidermy.

His love of nature has remained a significant part of his life and his paintings can be found in stately homes throughout Europe, America Africa and Britain. Alan has exhibited in numerous galleries and held many successful one-man exhibitions. The last being five years ago in Gleneagles Hotel. Since then he has sold his work exclusively from his own gallery, although many other galleries attempt to persuade him to exhibit with them.

A shy unassuming man who is more at home sketching on the hills of Glenlyon or from his boat around the West Coast. When not working outdoors Alan spends his time working in his small studio depicting the ever-changing landscapes and wildlife which surround his home and gallery.
