Braemar
Castle
Braemar
Castle was originally built by the Earls of Mar in the 17th century
to reinforce their control of the area. The property was was burned
out by the enemy clan leader, the legendary Black Colonel, John
Farquarson of Inverey after the Glorious Revolution of 1688. Two
years after the defeat of the Clans at Culloden the castle was
rebuilt to accommodate English soldiers who garrisoned the castle.
